U-Rise is a legally registered community-based organization rooted in rural Western Kenya. Since our inception in 2022, we have been on a bold mission: to improve the lives of the most vulnerable—especially children, adolescents, and women living with neurological disorders and other disabilities.

At the heart of U-Rise lies a deep belief: every person, regardless of their condition or background, deserves a life of dignity, inclusion, and opportunity.

Our Why: Because Vulnerability Shouldn’t Mean Invisibility

In rural communities, neurological disorders like epilepsy are often misunderstood, neglected, or stigmatized. Women and children living with these conditions face barriers to education, healthcare, nutrition, and social inclusion. At U-Rise, we see not just the challenges—but the untapped potential.

That’s why we work hand-in-hand with communities to address the root causes of vulnerability—poor nutrition, inadequate healthcare access, and environmental stressors like climate change—while creating lasting systems of care, support, and opportunity.

We champion sustainable farming as both a health intervention and an economic lifeline. Through agroecological practices and nutrition-focused training, we help families improve food security, reduce environmental risk, and support brain health naturally.

By advocating for inclusive policies and building partnerships with health providers, we improve access to diagnosis, treatment, and community-based care for those with neurological conditions. We believe health is a right, not a privilege.

Through initiatives like Art for Social Change, we give voice to street-involved children and youth with epilepsy—transforming pain into power through visual arts, performance, and storytelling. This nurtures healing, self-expression, and social reintegration.
